Minneapolis Moving companies cannot legally move:

Moving Suggestions:

• Do not send cash or other value items with the moving company, because they are not insured.
• Do not pack items with fuel, oil, gas or water inside.

Hiring a Mover:

• You can check with Better Business Bureau for complaints on moving companies. (we have an “A rating” with the BBB – you can see our BBB Report here)
• Check the moving licenses of the moving companies.
• Check the small words in the moving estimates that the moving companies send to you and add your special moving requests to the estimates.
• Do not count just on promises by the phone. Ask from the sales person of the moving company to add your special requests to the estimate.
• Check the moving insurance that the moving company offers you.
• Don’t take the lowest estimate that you get from one of the moving companies automatically, because the lowest offer can be at the end of your move the expensive one. We recommend you to take an average offer.
• Plan how you will pack. Pack items first that you don’t use often.
• Start packing as soon as you find out you’re moving.
• Never pack flammable items or non-allowable items.
• Use generous amounts of paper inside the carton on the top and bottom to provide good cushion.
• List contents and room on the outside of the carton.
• Clearly mark “Fragile” on the outside of cartons.
• Use clean newsprint paper. Old newspapers may work, but use them carefully because the ink may rub off onto your items. Clean “newsprint” paper is
  available from your local agent.
• Write “Open First” on cartons containing essential items such as cooking utensils, toiletries, etc.
• Separate breakables and non-breakables.
• Pack all cartons tightly.
• Use professional packing tape. Masking tape isn’t strong enough to support fully packed cartons. Packing tape is available from your local agent.
